John 21:3-6

John 21:3-6  Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. After Jesus’ resurrection, He wasn’t with the disciples all the time like He had been for the last three years. And I am sure that they missed Him being with them. So Peter did the only thing that he knew to do: he went fishing. He went back to the job that he had had all of his life. After Peter denied the Lord three times, he was ashamed. He was confused and went back to where he was comfortable. When Jesus appeared to the disciples while they were in their fishing boat, they didn’t expect to see Him. And when He gave them fishing advice, a miracle occurred! They caught so many fish that they couldn’t handle them! When John told Peter that it was Jesus there on the shore, Peter jumped into the sea and swam to the shore. Jesus had breakfast cooking on a fire and spoke kindly to Peter. Peter was not a good leader yet. But Jesus knew that he would be someday. And he was. And just like our story, Jesus knows what you will be someday. He knows that you can do wonderful things if you will let Him and if you will believe in Him. And you will!
