II Samuel 11:1

II Samuel 11:1 And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem. This begins King David’s terrible sin with Bathsheba, Uriah’s wife. David wasn’t where he should have been at the time that he should have been there. David should have been out leading his army. He should not have been at home during the time of war. So he saw Uriah’s wife taking a bath and Satan filled his mind with evil thoughts that became evil acts. And after David sinned with Bathsheba, he had Uriah killed. And in a few days, David married Uriah’s wife. Then David thought everything had been covered up. But, guess what? God knew what had happened. God knows everything and God will not let us get away with sin. God cared too much for David to let him get away with sin. So what are the lessons learned from this event? Be where you should be. Be where you should be when you should be there. Keep your eyes where they should be. Leave other peoples’ things alone - including their wives! Got it? Good!
