II Samuel 15:37 So
Hushai David's friend came into the city, and Absalom came into Jerusalem. When
Absalom took the throne away from David, his father, David’s friend, Hushai
pretended to be with Absalom in his rebellion. But Hushai gave Absalom bad
advice, camouflaged as good advice. Hushai appeared to be working for Absalom
but secretly was working for David. He was a “double agent”. And two young
priests, Jonathan and Ahimaaz, delivered secret messages from Hushai to David.
Their plan worked great. Hushai’s bad advice and the boys’ tip off gave David just
enough time to get away from Absalom. With the rebellion stalled, David’s army
was able to defeat Absalom’s weak followers. David was soon back home in
Jerusalem.
