II Chronicles 18:1,4-7
Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with
Ahab. And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the
word of the LORD to day. Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of
prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramothgilead to
battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into
the king's hand. But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD
besides, that we might enquire of him? And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat,
There is yet one man, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for
he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son
of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so. Jehoshaphat, the
King of Judah was a righteous man and should have never associated with Ahab,
the king of Israel, who was a wicked man. So before they went up to
Ramothgilead in battle, Jehoshaphat wanted to ask God if they should go to
battle or not. Ahab called his wicked prophets and they said, “Sure! Go up to
battle! Everything will be great!” But Jehoshaphat asked if there wasn’t a
prophet of God who they could ask. Ahab didn’t want to ask Micaiah, the man of
God, because he never said anything good to Ahab. Well, Duh! That’s because Ahab
was always doing the wrong thing! The problem wasn’t with Micaiah’s preaching;
the problem was with King Ahab’s wicked living! A good friend - a Godly friend
- will tell you the truth. Never be afraid of the truth of God’s Word. You can
depend upon God’s truth!
