II Thessalonians
3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free
course, and be glorified, even as it is with you. Paul was thrilled to be
in God’s service! He treated it like being in the service of an important king.
Well, actually he was! Jesus Christ is the King of glory! And as Paul was
writing to the church in Thessalonica, he was wishing that they would be as
excited to be in God’s service as he was. But Paul went a step further. He
asked the church in Thessalonica to pray for him as he went about preaching the
Word of God. But Paul didn’t ask for prayer for safety. He didn’t ask for
prayer for himself. He asked them to pray that the Word Of God would be free
and powerful as he preached it out to change the lives of those who heard it.
Paul wanted the Word of God to be first. I hope it is first in my life and in
your life too!
