Isaiah 1:18 Come
now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as
scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they
shall be as wool. The Old Testament is all about the commandments and laws
of God. The Old Testament talks about sin and its punishment. But often, as in
our verse for today, salvation from sin is also mentioned. The Old Testament
prophets knew about the coming Messiah, who would save believers from their
sins. But now we can look back and know that the Messiah’s name was Jesus.
Jesus, the Messiah, was the focus of the Lod Testament, and Jesus, the Christ,
was the focus of the New Testament. And if we trust in this Savior, our sins
will become as white as what two things? Yes, as white as snow or as white as
wool. Our sins may be black and evil, or red and bloody, but Jesus Christ
washes them as white as the cleanest white sheets in the laundry basket!
