Daniel 1:19-21 And
the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they
before the king. And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king
enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and
astrologers that were in all his realm. And Daniel continued even unto the
first year of king Cyrus. God honored Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and
Azariah because they were faithful to Him. The young men were healthier because
they didn’t overindulge at the king’s banquet table. The young men were wiser
because God gave them wisdom. When they stood before King Nebuchadnezzar, God gave them the answers that the
king was looking for. Daniel served God faithfully and served the kings as
well. Daniel served Nebuchadnezzar and his grandson, Belshazzar.
When Belshazzar saw the handwriting on the wall, he knew just who to call on to
interpret it. Daniel’s reputation was solid. And when Babylon was overthrown by
the Medes, King Darius kept Daniel on as an administrator. Darius was the king
when Daniel was thrown into the den of lions. He was probably an old man then.
Daniel served into the reign of Cyrus, king of Persia. Daniel was 85 or 90
years old before he passed on to his eternal reward. What a wonderful, steady
testimony for God.
