I Samuel 22:1,2
David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his
brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him.
And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every
one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a
captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men. When King
Saul tried to kill David, David fled to the wilderness for safety. With all of
the valleys and box canyons, no one would ever find David in the wilderness
unless he wanted them to find him. So anyone who was in trouble; anyone who was
in debt; anyone who Saul was after; they fled to David. And David took them in.
He was like Robin Hood. He was an outlaw; but he was a good outlaw. And this
was a good training time for David and for David’s followers.
