I Samuel 24:3-6

I Samuel 24:3-6 And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave. And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily. And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt. And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD'S anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD. Saul and his men were chasing David in the wilderness. David and his men went into a cave to hide and to rest a little. But then Saul decided to go into the same cave and sleep! David was pinned in! But David and his men kept real quiet. Soon Saul and his guards were snoring. What a relief for David! And then one of his men said, “Hey, David, God has delivered your enemy right into your hands! This is your chance to kill Saul!” But David didn’t think so. David respected Saul and was going to teach Saul a lesson. David snuck up and cut off a piece of Saul’s robe. Then he and his men carefully snuck out of the cave. When they were safely over on the other side of the valley, David called out waking up Saul. David said, “Hey, Abner, you’d better do a better job of watching over your king. Look what I’ve got in my hands.” And with that, David held up the piece of Saul’s garment. Saul immediately knew that David had had the opportunity to kill him if he had wanted to. And everyone else knew too! God was with David and God protected David. Has God protected you recently? Let’s talk about it.
