I Samuel 18:1,5

I Samuel 18:1,5 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul's servants. Little David was an instant hit with everyone. And why not?! He was good looking, he was spunky, and he was a good kid. Everyone was proud of David, including Saul’s own son, Jonathan. Jonathan was encouraged to be brave because of David’s good example. David had stood up to Goliath. Do you have a good friend that you look up to? Do they set a good example of how a Christian should be? Or are you a good example like David to your friends?! David became a regular around Saul’s throne room. He hung around with Jonathan and the king’s valiant men. And everyone accepted him. Even though he was just a little squirt, he had proven himself on the battlefield, and he was accepted as one of the guys. But David didn’t let his success go to his head. He never became a snob. He worked at being just a regular guy. And David’s good attitude made everyone like him all the more. What a great guy! God was preparing David for bigger things.
