What is it about us?
We think that everything is about us.
We can’t pass a mirror without catching a glance saying, “Not bad.” We judge a group picture good or bad based
upon if we have our eyes open or not.
The old Carly Simon song says,
You walked into the party
Like you were walking on a yacht
Your hat strategically dipped below one eye
Your scarf, it was apricot
You had one eye on the mirror
And watched yourself gavotte
And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner
They'd be your partner, and
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you …
The best Man who ever drew breath was not vain. He was humble and thoughtful of others. In Philippians 2:3-5 Paul said, “Let nothing
be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem
other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every
man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in
Christ Jesus.” Let’s be more like Jesus
and less like us. Let’s think more of
Jesus and think less of us.
