Read Matthew 2:9-11  Herod and the priests told the wise men that they should search for baby Jesus in Bethlehem. When the wise men left Herod's palace in Jerusalem, they were excited that the star continued to lead them. They followed the star until it led them directly to where the baby was. Since verse 11 says that they came into the house, we think that baby Jesus must have been a few days or weeks old. Baby Jesus was no longer in the stable; Joseph had found Mary and Jesus a house to live in by then. We don't know how many wise men there were. But because verse 11 tells us that they opened up 3 gifts for Him, we think that there may have been 3 wise men. We usually buy gifts for each other at Christmas time because the wise men brought gifts to baby Jesus. Did you get Jesus a gift this year? After all, Christmas is really Jesus' birthday!
