Kneeling in Prayer

When I can’t sleep in the wee hours of the morning, I begin to pray.  I figure that if I can’t sleep, at least I can pray for people who can.  But usually when I pray in bed, I soon fall back asleep because I am too comfortable.  I think it’s better to kneel beside my bed in prayer.  I’ve got this theory: the more uncomfortable the position in prayer, the less likely I am to fall asleep.  David said in Psalm 95:6, “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.”  Let’s spend some time kneeling before our Maker in prayer.  Hey, let’s do it right now!  I’ll pray for you, and you pray for me.

End Times?

These are scary times that we are living in!  My wife and I were wondering if we are living in the end times.  Wait, wait, don’t blow me off as a Bible-thumping kook.  Everyone knows that our world will not last forever.  We have only a finite amount of coal, oil, and natural resources.  Trees are being cut by the thousands that have taken a hundred years to grow.  Garbage is taking over the oceans.  There will be a time when things drastically change.  They are talked about in the Bible, written 2,000 years ago!  Jesus said in at Matthew 24:6&7, “And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.”  Hey, that’s exactly what is happening!   Our grocery shelves are depleted; Covid-19 is raging; earthquakes in Utah; murders and wars all over the world.  Sounds ominous.  But wait, there’s more!  Jesus is coming back to catch His people away up to heaven where they will be safe.  Are you one of His precious children?  You can be.  Hey, it may not be the end of the world … well, not quite yet, but the end is coming.  I’m glad I am ready.  Are you?

Cabin Fever

Are you getting “cabin fever”?  Do the four walls seem to be closing in on you?  I just like to go outside in my driveway to see people walking by.  Real, live, people.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my wife and she loves me, but we are beginning to get on each other’s nerves.  Do you know what I mean?!  I look for an excuse to don my mask and gloves and pick up necessary items from the grocery store.  That is, if they have them.  But I am aware that the dear Lord knows exactly where I am and the frustration that I am facing.  God understands … and God cares.  David said in Psalm 120:1, “In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.”  Great reminder.  When “shelter in place” gets too much for you, remember, God is right there ready to hear and ready to help.  The Good Lord understands.
