John 2:9&10 ...
the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man
at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then
that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. When Jesus
was just beginning His ministry, He and his family were invited to a wedding at
Cana in Galilee, near where they lived. Weddings in those days lasted several
days with much feasting and drinking. The family usually hired a governor of
the banquet, who inspected and approved the food and wine as it was served. Sometime
into the banquet, the family ran out of wine. Jesus’ mother knew that Jesus had
the supernatural power to do something about the wine problem, so she asked Him
to get involved. In the New Testament, there is no word for grape juice. The word wine could be used for alcoholic wine or
for grape juice. Since drunkenness is forbidden and wine is spoken against
twice in Proverbs, Jesus probably made grape juice and not wine. Jesus asked
the servants to fill the huge water storage tanks with fresh water. He then
asked the servants to draw out the water and serve it to the guests. Either in
the storage tanks or in the serving pitchers, the water was turned into grape
juice. When the governor of the feast sampled the wine that Jesus had just made
from water, the governor thought that it was the best that he had ever tasted.
Jesus makes only the best! Jesus is not only interested in your spiritual
condition, He cares about every little detail of your life. You can ask Jesus
about toys and books and trips and friends. He cares about your every need –
even the little ones.
