John 4:47, 49, 50 When
he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought
him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. Jesus saith unto
him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had
spoken unto him, and he went his way. Because Jesus had performed many
miracles, His fame had grown. When the nobleman heard that Jesus was nearby, he
immediately went to Him to get Jesus to heal his son. The son must have been
seriously ill for the nobleman to come to Jesus. The religious leaders were
against Jesus, and the noble man must have risked getting into trouble with
them just by visiting Jesus. But he didn’t care. His little boy was more important
to him than the approval of the religious leaders. He just had to do what he
could to save his child. But Jesus didn’t even go to see the little sick boy.
He only spoke the word that the boy would get well. And the noblemen believed
Jesus. Because the noblemen had faith in Jesus, and because Jesus was the very
Son of God, the little boy was made whole. Just like the nobleman, we too should believe in Jesus. Not just
believe that He can do things for us, but that He is the Son of God. If we
trust in Jesus, no matter what comes our way, everything will be all right.
