II Timothy 1:5 When
I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in
thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee
also. When Paul came to Derbe, a Greek colony in Turkey, he heard of a
believer named Timothy. Timothy was a respected young man from a good Christian
family. Paul asked Timothy to join him in his missionary journeys and became his
right-hand man. Several of the New Testament books were written by Timothy as
Paul dictated them. Timothy was able to be a blessing to Paul because he had
been taught by a Godly mother and grandmother. That sounds like some young-uns
that I know! Someday, God may use you in the ministry too! And when He does, be
sure to remember those sweet days learning from your mother and father the
wonderful words of the Bible. Let’s see if Timothy and Paul can speak to us
from twenty centuries ago!
