Numbers 21:33-35
And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan
went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei. And the
LORD said unto Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into thy hand, and
all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon
king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon. So they smote him, and his sons,
and all his people, until there was none left him alive: and they possessed his
land. When the spies went into the Promised Land to see what was there,
they saw a wonderful land. But this wonderful land was defended by giants. Ten
of the spies were afraid, but two of the spies were brave and said that God
would help them win. So now, forty years later, Israel was ready to go in to the
land. Og, king of Bashan, was one of those giants that had to be defeated. Not
only were these giants powerful, but like Goliath, they were wicked. They hated
God and God’s people and mocked both of them. And it was time for justice. The
wicked were going to be judged and the righteous were going to win. God was
going to show everyone that He was had given the Promised Land to the Children
of Israel. God had promised Israel that He would be with them and that He would
fight for them. God defeated wicked King Og of Bashan and honored Joshua for
his faith and obedience. Are there some giants in your life that you need to
face? How about the giant of fear? What about the giant of secret sin? Do you
face the giant of anger? What about the giant of evil thoughts? There are many
giants that you may face, but never forget that God can defeat each one of
them. Always remember that God is greater than your giants! Trust God and let
Him fight your battles!
