Early Friday morning (5:45 am) I pulled into Memorial Hospital parking lot to go to cardiac rehab. And as usual, I had to open my car door to see the faded parking space lines. And, some fool had crowded the line, as you can see in the picture. So I taught him a lesson: I parked as close as I could (while still in my space) to the line that he was obviously hogging. I had to carefully open my door and slither out in the narrow space, but it was worth it. I wished I could be there to see the embarrassed look on his face, but, alas, I had cardiac rehab to attend. Inside, I had my morning coffee, stimulating discussion with exercise added in. When I got out at 7:15 am and walked to the parking lot, it was still very cold. And when I got to my car … the rude car was still there! The driver/careless parker was still inside the hospital! I had to squeeze into my door once again and drive off. He never even knew that I had “taught him a lesson” for careless parking! But as I drove out of the parking lot, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, “Who really was the rude person?” Ouch! I hate it when the Spirit of God is right (and I am convicted). The apostle Paul said (under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit) in Ephesians 4:32, “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.” I was going to teach someone a lesson, but the Blessed Holy Spirit taught me a lesson. Hey, today, join me in being a little kinder. Don’t focus on lines; focus on people, and … be nice.
