One Tooth

My wife has a Colombia jacket that is warm and fuzzy, so lately it had become her favorite coat (with all of the cold weather).  But it gets dirty quicker because she wears it more.  I try to get it into the washer and out of the dryer to have it ready for her to wear.  And I had perfect timing Wednesday, because it came out of the dryer just before we went outside, and the coat was still warm from the dryer.  Nice!  But Kathy couldn’t quite get the zipper on the coat started.  She didn’t notice that the zipper was one tooth off.  We were late for dialysis and the coat zipper just wasn’t cooperating.  I was sticking my hands in while she was yanking on the zipper, and both of us were getting frustrated.  And the entire problem was because of one tooth on the zipper!  Hey, how much of the day’s problems would be solved if we just started the day off right?  If we got up a bit early and spent a few minutes with the dear Lord, the day would go so much smoother.  But often, we get up late and don’t have time for the Lord, and we run behind all morning!  David said in Psalm 63:1, “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.”  David was being chased by King Saul.  David knew what it was like to have a bad day.  But he took the time to seek the Lord.  Hey, get alone with God before the problems of the day surround you.  Ask God to direct your day.  Get the first minute of the day right, like me and my wife were trying to do with her coat zipper.  You’ll be glad that you did.
