Leviticus 9:22-24

Leviticus 9:22-24 And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them, and came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and peace offerings. And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the people. And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces. When we are right before the Lord, everything goes well. And everyone knows it! It’s like the perfect day. You wake up and realize that there is no school. And you realize that your sisters spent the night with a friend, so your mother is making pancakes and bacon – just for you. Wait a minute! Actually you wake up and realize that your brother spent the night with one of his friends and you got to sleep in until noon. And you are now enjoying a twenty-minute hot, hot shower. Things just go better when we serve the Lord. You see, it’s Jesus Christ that makes everything good. Aaron offered the right sacrifice and then God’s glory came powering in. And then a consuming fire licked up the sacrifice from God’s glory, meaning that God was pleased with everyone’s sacrifice. And then everyone we so happy that God was pleased that everyone just shouted and cheered and gave high fives to each other. God is great and God is good! And everything was right that day!

Leviticus 7:37

Leviticus 7:37 This is the law of the burnt offering, of the meat offering, and of the sin offering, and of the trespass offering, and of the consecrations, and of the sacrifice of the peace offerings. God gave Israel five different types of offerings, and they are listed here in our verse for today: the Burnt offering, the Peace offering, the Sin offering, the Trespass offering, and the Meat or Meal offering. Each offering had a different purpose and a different procedure. The priests knew what to do and how to perform each offering properly. Each of these offerings were shown in the four New Testament Gospels as pictures of Jesus Christ, God’s perfect Lamb. Jesus is our perfect sacrifice!

Leviticus 6:14,16

Leviticus 6:14,16 And this is the law of the meat offering: the sons of Aaron shall offer it before the LORD, before the altar. And the remainder thereof shall Aaron and his sons eat: with unleavened bread shall it be eaten in the holy place; in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation they shall eat it. When the twelve tribes of Israel entered the Promised Land, they divided up the land among themselves. That is except the Levites. So there were eleven divisions. But Joseph had two sons and God gave each of them a portion, giving Joseph two portions, bringing the total back up to twelve portions once again. So what about the tribe of Levi? What was the job of the Levites? That’s right, the Levites were the priests who were dispersed among the other twelve tribes. The Levites were all over Israel so that they could be near the people and could teach them about God. But where did the Levites get their food? Our verses tell us. When the people would bring their meat offering to the Lord, the Levites would offer it to God, but a portion of the offering was reserved for the Levites to use as teir food. The offering was holy to God and the Levites were holy to God, so the Levites could use part of the offering. God took care of the Levites, who took care of the Tabernacle. That is one reason that we take care of our preacher. Take care of the man of God. He works for us and on our behalf.
