Focus

This story is circulating about the 1958 world series: Hank Aaron with the Milwaukee Brewers was up to bat, took a few warm-up swings, and stepped into the batter’s box.  The Yankees’ catcher, Yogi Berra chattered to distract Hank.  Yogi said, “Hey Hank, you’re not holding the bat right.  You’ve got to hold it so that you can read the label.  If you don’t, the bat will break.”  Hank Aaron ignored Yogi and concentrated on the pitcher.  Hank hit the first pitch over the left field wall for a home run.  As he rounded third and came home, he said to Yogi, “I didn’t come to read; I came to hit the ball.”  Often, we lose our focus.  We get our eyes off of Jesus.  I John 2:15-17, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”  Keep your eye on Jesus today.  Focus on Him.
