John 6:18-21

John 6:18-21 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid. But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid. Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went. Our story for today comes just after Jesus had multiplied the loaves and the fishes and fed the multitudes. When the people saw the wonderful miracle of food, they wanted to take Jesus by force and make Him their king. Jesus didn’t want to be their physical king; He wanted to be the King of their hearts. So he had to escape up to the mountains. The disciples were left with the crowds down by the seaside. But no one wanted to make them a king. Poor disciples! After a while, they just decided to go home to Capernaum. So they took off in their trusty fishing boat. These men were strong fishermen, but even they couldn’t handle the fierce storm that arose on the Sea of Galilee. As they were concentrating on the storm and their survival, here came Jesus walking to them on top of the water! The disciples were shocked and terrified at the same time. They didn’t recognize Jesus. But He spoke to them and calmed their fears. They invited Him into their boat. That was a smart thing to do. Nothing could harm them with the Creator of the winds and seas in the boat with them! They were absolutely safe while Jesus was with them! And so are we. With Jesus in our lives, we can face any and all of life’s problems. He can handle every problem that we have. We can trust in Jesus!
