John 9:5-7 ... I am
the light of the world. When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and
made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the
clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by
interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing. There
are several ways that Jesus could have healed this blind man. He could have
bonked him on the head or done something flashy - but He didn’t. Jesus didn’t
have to impress people. He was the very Son of God and had all of the power in
the universe! But this Creator of the universe became a man and dwelled with us
human beings. Jesus was ordinary and compassionate. He made clay out of the
dust of the ground and put it on the blind man’s eyes and then sent him to wash
off the clay. Jesus did His part, and Jesus made the blind man do his part. God
always involves us. He doesn’t need our help; he just likes to let us help.
Since the blind man could not see Who it was that made the clay and told him to
go wash, when he received his sight, he didn’t really know who had performed
the wonderful miracle in his life. But when Jesus found him the second time,
the man recognized Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Jesus has performed a
wonderful miracle in our lives too. He has saved us from our sins and made us
His very own children. We should thank Him and follow Him as He leads us.
