Matthew 1:20,21

Matthew 1:20,21 But while he (Joseph) thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Christmas is in three days! Are you excited? I am! Our verses for today tell us that God sent His Son into the world to redeem us from our sins. No other little baby came into the world this way. Every other baby had a mother and a father, but baby Jesus was different. His mother was Mary but His Father was God. Joseph had a dilemma. He knew that the baby that Mary was carrying was not his. He was ready to divorce Mary for being unfaithful to him. But the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and explained that Mary’s child was the Son of God. This little baby was the promised Messiah who would save His people. And Joseph was going to have to raise the Son of God! What a responsibility! I know Joseph must have had wonderful times teaching the little boy Jesus, but he never had to correct Him. Do you think Jesus had to get spankings? I think not! It must have been interesting in his house! Joseph did a great job with his son. We’ll talk tomorrow about how the story all began.
