Colossians 3:1,2 If
ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ
sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on
things on the earth. There are four kinds of sentences based on usage:
declarative, interrogative, exclamatory, and imperative. Both of our verses for
today are imperative. And imperative sentence has the subject you, understood
and is a command or a request. But if it is the Almighty God making the
request, it might as well be a command, right?! But in our two verses, God is
asking us to seek and to set. We are to seek things above,
and we are to set our affections on things above. As a Christian, our mind
should be in heaven and not on earth. We should be thinking heavenly thoughts
and not earthly thoughts. Heaven is wonderful. And the One who loves us most of
all is up there. Jesus loves us and wants to be our best Friend. And that
should be what we think about!
