Bird Nest

 

Kathy and I like to watch the birds in the back yard.  It is relaxing to see them flutter about from feeder to water bubbler and then back again.  One summer a few years ago, my wife discovered a bird’s nest in a flowerpot on the deck.  Our neighbors have cats.  Kathy knew that the flowerpot was too low and a dangerous place for baby birds, so she tore out the nest before the bird could lay any eggs.  But the stubborn birds built back in their vulnerable location.  But the next time that my wife saw the rebuilt nest, it was too late.  Eggs were already laid, so she left them alone.  But soon we saw the evidence of eggshells destroyed by some adversary.  We hoped that the mother bird had escaped during the destruction.  If she would have just listened to my wife and built her nest higher up in a safer place.  Hey, isn’t that just the way we humans are?!  God tells us how to live in His Word.  God shows us the best way to order our steps in His Holy Scriptures, but we just don’t listen.  Solomon said in Proverbs 22:3, “A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.”  If we just listen to God, He will direct us in the right way.  But if we ignore God’s directions, we are doomed to the results of our own careless decisions.  Hey, listen to God.  He knows what is best.  He loves us.  Never forget, He loves us!
