I was just folding a pair of my old, comfortable jeans. They felt like a stick of room-temperature butter in my hands. They have aged nicely and are a pleasure to wear. But it won’t be long before they develop holes in the knees, and I’ll have to throw them away. It seems that when jeans get to be perfectly broken in, they are two washes from too worn and thrown away. Sounds like my life. Just when I have things figured out and have developed the wisdom to make good decisions, I am old and die. And isn’t it crazy that folk are paying good money to buy old jeans with holes in the knees?! So, after my jeans are old and worn out, they can actually have a new “fashionable” life! Sounds like my eternal life. When this worn-out body grows too old, I fall asleep in death to awaken in my new body in heaven! Paul said in I Corinthians 15:53&54, “For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.” What a wonderful day that will be! I am looking forward to my new “fashionable” body in heaven! Hey, what about you?
