I felt rather snooty on Saturday. Let me explain: Saturday was my sweet granddaughter’s birthday, and I wanted to send her a gift. I didn’t trust myself to pick out clothes or jewelry, but money is always appropriate. So, I decided to use Venmo. Yikes! I was reluctant to link my checking account to an online app, and my Visa card charged a 3% fee. I had to install American Express, Venmo, and Google Pay on my phone, which I did. Each had usernames, passwords, robot verification, and agreements, which were verified with texted codes to my phone. I felt like I was walking through a minefield. After an hour and all of the installations and verifications I finally hit “send” and anxiously waited. Within 30 seconds, she sent me a text thanking me for the birthday money! She had no idea how much this 75-year-old grandpa had worked for that money! Hey, I go about my life every day without seeing the invisible protection of the Holy Spirit and God’s ministering angels. They guard, protect, and defend me against Satan and his evil hoards while I am clueless. God may get a weak, “Thank you, Lord, for watching over me today,” but nothing more. But the dear Lord loves me so much! He doesn’t love me because I am thankful; He doesn’t love me because I am worthy. He loves me because of who He is! The Lord God Almighty is the very essence of love! Paul said it best in Romans 8:38&39, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
