Friday, I took my wife to Marshall’s to buy … well, it’s a secret. As I was pushing her out of the back door of our house, I felt a rock in my shoe. We were already out the door, so I thought to myself, “I’ll get it out when I sit down. Every step that I took was uncomfortable. I got my wife into the car, got the wheelchair loaded into the back of the car, and got myself into the driver’s seat. But there wasn’t room for me to bend down and untie my shoe. So, I drove to Marshall’s. But when I got out, I felt the rock in my shoe. again. I got out the wheelchair, guided my dear wife into it, and pushed her into the store, feeling that rock with each step. I grumbled to her, “When I get into Marshall’s, I have to find a chair to get this rock out of my shoe!” But I couldn’t find a chair anywhere! Marshall’s doesn’t want you to sit; they want you to shop. After stepping on that rock for ten minutes, I found a swivel chair for sale. I sat down, untied my shoe, and shook it upside down. I didn’t see anything fall out. I shook it again. Nothing again. I stuck my hand inside of my shoe but felt nothing. I put my shoe back on and felt nothing. The rock was gone! Evidently it was so small that I didn’t notice it when shook out my shoe. James said in James 3:5, “… the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!” The tongue is a tiny organ of the body, but a gossiping tongue is a huge danger! James goes on to say in verses 6-8, “… the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: … and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, … is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.” Like my tiny rock, the tiny tongue is big problem! Hey, today, guard your tongue. Watch what you say and have a good day!
