I feed the birds outside and go through a lot of seed to keep them happy. But they make me happy, so it’s money well spent. The squirrels and the chipmunks like the seeds too, and they make me happy. But there are some creatures at night that sneak around and get seeds. I’m not really happy to feed them, because they give me no pleasure at all. But I am gracious and feed them all, whether I intend to or not. But when the mice and rats decide to come into my house, that’s a different matter. My house is reserved for me, my wife, and those who are invited in. So, when I see evidence of creatures inside my house uninvited, I take action. I set traps and put out poison to eliminate the invaders because they are not welcomed. The dear Lord is the same, because Matthew 5:45, “… for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” But heaven, the abode of God, is reserved for only God’s children. Matthew 19:14, “But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” Jesus wants you to be with Him in heaven. God’s home is prepared for God, His angels, and for His children. So, to get to heaven, how do you become a child of God? It is simple, yet profound: John 1:12, “But as many as received him (Jesus Christ), to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” Trust Jesus, and you are part of God’s forever family, and you are welcomed into God’s home. Reject Jesus, and you are on the outside, separated from God for eternity.
