My wife is bored at dialysis, so I try to get creative with snacks. She can’t eat too much, so I put in a few things in three Ziplock bags: two cheese peanut butter crackers, two Oreos, and a few Goldfish. A couple of weeks ago, I was at Walmart and noticed that Stouffer’s had whales, a knock-off Goldfish, if you will, and they were considerably cheaper. But at home, when I opened the box, there was a small plastic bag, and it was only halfway full. There were half as many whales as Goldfish. I had been scammed. Bummer. But the whales tasted just as good as Goldfish, so I wasn’t too upset. Then, last Friday, when I was looking for whales, Walmart was out of them. But Walmart had Great Value penguins, a knock-off of Stouffer’s whales, which were knock-offs of Goldfish. And they were in a big, big box, and cheaper yet. But Monday, when I asked Kathy how she liked the penguins, she rolled her eyes. The Great Value penguins weren’t such a great value. So, this afternoon, I am going to buy Goldfish, and Goldfish only from now and on. Hey, have you drifted away from your faith in Jesus Christ? Maybe you became disillusioned at your church and started attending a feel-good church. Maybe you lost yourself in a mega church where no one knows you, where you have no accountability. No one calls you when you miss a few Sundays. Maybe you don’t go to church at all anymore. Hey, God didn’t let you down; hypocrites in church did! Why not find a real church?! Why not get back to where you know you should be?! Don’t settle for whales or penguins; get back to the real Goldfish. Hebrews 10:25, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
