Jonah 1:4,5

Jonah 1:4,5 But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep. Jonah ran from God and from the job that God wanted him to do. God could have gotten someone else to do Jonah’s job, but He didn’t. God sent Jonah problems to make him willing to go. While Jonah was on the ship, God sent a great storm. Everyone was afraid, even the skillful old sailors. They had never been in such a storm. Everyone, that is except Jonah. Jonah was asleep way down in the bottom of the ship. Jonah wasn’t worried, Jonah wasn’t even concerned. He was indifferent. Indifferent means he just didn’t care. Do you know people like Jonah? It could be that they are Christians. It could be that they are not church goers. They might even be nice people. They just don’t care about God or about God’s house. They might think about God every once in a while ... or not. They just don’t care. What are they? They are indifferent. I don’t want to be indifferent. I want to care about God and God’s job that He wants me to do. And Don’t forget, God has a job for you to do. Will you do it?
