Hebrews 13:5 Let
your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as
ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. I
heard a preacher say years ago, “If your income doesn't match your outgo, your
upkeep may be your downfall.” Confusing? Not really. There are two ways to
balance your finances: either make more money to pay for everything that you
are buying, or spend less money to match the money that you are earning at your
job. Our verse says to do the last one. We watch commercials on TV and think that
we need new things: a new car; new clothes; fancier tools; an expensive
vacation. But our verse says that we should be content with what we have. If
God is our heavenly Father, He will take care of our needs. So we should be
satisfied with what God gives to us. Isn’t it good to know that God will never
ever leave us? God will never forsake us – He will always take care of His dear
children. So whatever He gives us, we should be content with it. We don’t need
more money to pay for more stuff; we need to be content with the money and the
stuff that God gives us. Be satisfied with what God has given to us. Be
satisfied with God Himself. He is enough.
