Hebrews 9:12
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in
once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. The
Old Testament people who believed God did what God said to do. Every year, they
came to the tabernacle to offer their offering for their sins. But the next
year, they had to come back. They had to come back year after year after year.
They knew that the goats and calves could never fully pay for their sins. But
when Jesus died as our sacrifice, His blood was different. He was God. He was
infinite. He was perfect. So Jesus could die for the sins of the whole world and
pay for them all... permanently! Jesus died on the cross and cried out, “It is
finished!” That didn’t mean that His life was finished; that meant that the
plan of redemption for you and for me was finished. Praise the Lord! We were
finally free from the bondage of sin!
