Joshua 3:7

Joshua 3:7 And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee. God promised Joshua that He would be with him just as He had been with Moses. God wanted the people to respect Joshua so that they would follow his leadership. But God needed Joshua to follow Him as well. God told Joshua to prepare the men for battle and to get the people ready to march forward. But they were blocked by the river Jordan – and it was at flood stage! God was testing the people, God was testing the priests, and God was testing Joshua. Joshua commanded the priests bearing the Ark of the Covenant to march forward. The moment that their feet touched the muddy Jordan River, the waters parted and the priests walked on dry ground. The waters piled up on each side just as the Red Sea had divided for Moses, forty years earlier. but only Joshua and Caleb were old enough to remember that great miracle. Now everyone saw clearly that God was with Joshua. God honored Joshua for his obedience. May we obey God as well - is my prayer.

Joshua 3:5

Joshua 3:5 And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you. As Israel prepared to go in to the Promised Land, they repented of sins, examining their hearts before the Lord. God was going to do great miracles on their behalf against the wicked Canaanites. But God wanted them to be right with Him. And God wants us to be right with Him. Before God can work in our hearts and lives, we must confess sin and get right with God. Then, and only then, can God bless. And He will bless!

Joshua 2:9

Joshua 2:9 And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. Joshua sent two spies to Jericho to spy out their weaknesses. The spies hid at Rahab’s house. Rahab was not a good woman. With men going in and out of her house all of the time, no one would suspect the two strangers saying overnight at Rahab’s house. But Rahab knew all about General Joshua and the Israeli army. She told the spies that everyone was scared to death of the Children of Israel and of their God. And all the while, God was working in Rahab’s heart. The spies promised to protect Rahab if she kept their secret. And she did. So when the walls of Jericho fell down, only that section of the wall where Rahab’s had built her house remained intact! Rahab protected God’s spies and God protected Rahab! After the fall of Jericho, Rahab was taken in by her new friends. One of the soldiers, Salmon, married Rahab and their son was Boaz, who married Ruth, whose son was Obed, whose son was Jesse, whose son was David the great king of Israel! Rahab, who had been a sinful woman, was changed. She was the great, great, grandmother of King David! God works in wonderful ways!
