Joshua 2:9 And she
said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your
terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint
because of you. Joshua sent two spies to Jericho to spy out their
weaknesses. The spies hid at Rahab’s house. Rahab was not a good woman. With
men going in and out of her house all of the time, no one would suspect the two
strangers saying overnight at Rahab’s house. But Rahab knew all about General
Joshua and the Israeli army. She told the spies that everyone was scared to
death of the Children of Israel and of their God. And all the while, God was
working in Rahab’s heart. The spies promised to protect Rahab if she kept their
secret. And she did. So when the walls of Jericho fell down, only that section of
the wall where Rahab’s had built her house remained intact! Rahab protected
God’s spies and God protected Rahab! After the fall of Jericho, Rahab was taken
in by her new friends. One of the soldiers, Salmon, married Rahab and their son
was Boaz, who married Ruth, whose son was Obed, whose son was Jesse, whose son
was David the great king of Israel! Rahab, who had been a sinful woman, was
changed. She was the great, great, grandmother of King David! God works in
wonderful ways!
