Leviticus 19:9,10

Leviticus 19:9,10 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest. And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God. Today we have Social Security to take care of the old people and Welfare to take care of the poor. But there are many people on Welfare who are not handicapped; they are just lazy. God had a much better plan for the poor. It was called gleaning. You may remember that Ruth gleaned in the field of Boaz. And how did that work out for her? Good, huh? God commanded the wealthy land owners to leave the corners of their fields left standing. If the workers dropped some grain, they were to leave it where they dropped it. Then the poor people would come in and pick up the left-overs. The owner got all that he needed and the poor worked for their harvest and had pride in their work. It was a good plan. Of course it was: it was God’s plan! God respects the ownership of the wealthy and God takes care of the poor. God knows what is best.
