Leviticus 19:33,34

Leviticus 19:33,34 And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. When I was in junior high school, I was a brat. When someone called me a name, my best come-back was to say, “It takes one to know one” meaning that what-ever name they called me, that was what they were too. In our verses for today, God told the Children of Israel to be kind to strangers because . . . That’s right. Because Israel used to be in a strange land too. Israel lived as strangers in Egypt for 430 years, so they knew what it was like to be a small group in a foreign land. So God reminded them to be kind to strangers in their midst. And so do we. Do you go out of your way to greet a visitor who shows up at church? You should. Do you try to reach out and make that new girl or boy feel at home in the Youth Group? You should. God wants us to be kind to strangers. When we are kind to strangers, they will feel better. And so will our heavenly Father Who is looking down upon us with joy.
