My dear wife has been gone for 7 months now, and I am just beginning to realize my singleness. I have no one to say, “Hey, are you still on your computer?” No one tells me, “That’s not good for you to eat.” No one says, “Aren’t you spending too much money on that? Shouldn’t we be saving more?” I have no one to say, “I’m sleepy. Isn’t it time to go to bed?” or no one to say good night to. But since Kathy is no longer with me, I am realizing more and more that the dear Lord is watching over me. I am becoming more aware of God’s presence … and that’s a good thing. It’s one thing to rely on your wife as your conscience, but it’s another thing to rely upon the Holy Spirit, Who is watching CLOSELY every move that you make. Jesus comforted His disciples, who were soon going to be on their own (sound familiar?) because Jesus knew that He was going back to the Father. Jesus said to His disciples in John 14:26, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” Hey, at night, I’m not alone. When I’m on the computer, Someone is watching over my shoulder. And when I spend a dollar, the Holy Spirit is watching me open my wallet. I have accountability; I have a “Friend that sticks closer than a brother”; and I am not alone. And … neither are you. Remember, God is watching your every move … in love and with your best interest at heart. Listen to Him and let Him lead you. You’ll be glad that you did.
