Slick Shoelaces

I have new brown shoes that I like to wear because they are very stylish … but they keep coming untied!  Bummer.  And the shoes have shoelace slits instead of holes for the laces, so I must keep the flat shoelaces.  The problem is that the shoelaces are too slick and come undone.  I could double-knot them, but then I would have to untie the double-knot to get them off.  I’ve used a long-handled shoehorn (so I don’t have to untie the double-knot), but these shoes are designed too tight.  I push the shoehorn under the tongue, and then on my heel, and then back to the tongue again before I can get the shoe on.  It is just as quick to untie the double-knot!  But both take too long!  Someone suggested that I tie a granny knot instead of a square knot.  The granny knot won’t slip as easily … but it looks stupid because the loops run up and down instead of across the shoe (the way that they should).  So, I have been obsessing over my dilemma.  Yesterday, my son said, “Why don’t you just look on Amazon for your waxed shoelaces?”  But that’s too simple.  So I clicked on Amazon and found my flat waxed shoestrings in the length and color that I need, and they’ll be here Wednesday.  Such a simple and obvious solution.  Hey, often we overlook the dear Lord as we try to solve our daily problems.  It’s so simple to trust in Him for our daily needs, but too often, we overlook Him.  I Peter 5:7, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
