This year, I am making most of my Christmas presents. I hope the recipients remember, “It’s the thought that counts.” I am making scarves for the ladies and valve stem covers for the men. I use 40 caliber casings which fit the plastic valve stems perfectly. Oh no, I’ve given away my trade secret. So, yesterday I picked up a bucketfull of potential casings at Shooter’s Supply and then I picked up scarf material at Hobby Lobby. The two items in the back seat of my car just made me chuckle. Sewing material and bullet casings just don’t seem to go together. And there is s passage of Scripture that has two opposites as well: Psalm 29:1&2, “Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.” God’s strength and God’s beauty are two polar opposites … but both are true. The Lord of heaven Has powerful strength and will crust those who oppose Him. But this same God loves sinners and has tender mercy and beauty as well. The Lord is at once a holy God and a compassionate God. How wonderful!
