The Wise Men

When the Wise Men came from the East following the Christmas star, they blew it.  They went to King Herod and asked him about for “the newborn King of the Jews.”  The Wise Men didn’t know that Herod was paranoid.  Herod was so insecure that he already had several of his close relatives killed suspecting them of attempting to steal his throne.  He executed his second wife, her mother, and three of his own sons!  Herod demanded of the priests and scribes where the Messiah would be born.  These Biblical scholars knew exactly where Jesus would be born, and they told Herod.  Then Herod lied to the Wise Men telling them in Matthew 2:8, “…Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.”  Yeah, right, Herod!  But God the Father warned the Wise Men, and they went home another way not even checking in with King Herod.  Isn’t it interesting that the Wise Men searched for baby Jesus, but the religious crowd (who knew exactly where the Messiah would be born) didn’t even bother to go to Bethlehem to see the Christ-Child?!  These priests and scribes didn’t even care.  How sad!  Hey, are you like Herod?  Infuriated.  Are you like the religious hypocrites?  Indifferent.  Or are you like the Wise Men?  Inquiring.  I hope you are like the last group.  As they say, “Wise men still seek Him.”  Yes, they do!
