Acts 18:5,6

Acts 18:5,6 And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ. And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles. Paul just couldn’t help but talk about Jesus. Every time that he thought about how good Jesus had been to him, he just had to speak out for his Savior. But most of the Jews in Corinth rejected what Paul was saying. They did not believe that Jesus was their Messiah. And since they rejected Jesus as the Messiah, they could not have the salvation that Jesus offered. Paul gave the Jews the opportunity to accept Jesus and go to heaven, but they rejected Jesus. They were not just rejecting Jesus; they were actually hurting themselves in rejecting Jesus. And since Jesus was the Son of God, they were rejecting God, which is the sin of blasphemy. Paul couldn’t believe it! He was so amazed at their stubbornness! But that was their decision. So he had to give up on them. He decided then and there to just go to the gentiles and to leave the Jews alone. And just like a worker shakes out his apron of the scraps that are dirtying it, Paul shook off his robe to indicate that he was throwing away the unbelieving Jews like useless scraps. But that was their choice. The same is true of us today. When you invite a friend to church, they can decide to come or not. You can’t make them. They have to decide to come with you or not. You invite, but they decide.
