II Kings 17:6,7,16

II Kings 17:6,7,16 In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods, And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. Because Israel refused to repent and serve God, God let them be taken over by the Assyrians and to be led away into captivity. Israel rejected God and God gave them what they deserved. But God still loved them! God sent prophets with Israel into captivity and these prophets preached repentance and trust in the God of heaven.
