Mallet

I needed a soft-blow mallet for forming copper bracelets on my anvil, so I ordered a leather mallet from Amazon (China).  The hammerhead was small and light, but adequate.  But after I used it three times, it started to unravel.  It seems that the glue wasn’t very durable.  So, I used my small lathe to make an oak mallet that was exactly like what I needed.  I got the wood from discarded pallets that I scavenged on Cloud Springs Rd.  I’ll not give the exact location because it's my private honey hole.  I should have made a mallet before I bought the cheap mallet on Amazon, but I was too lazy.  Hey, it never pays to take short-cuts.  Do it right the first time, and you’ll be glad that you did.  Reminds me of the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross.  When Jesus was praying to the Father in the Garden of Gethsemane, He said in Matthew at 26:39, “… O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.”  Jesus didn’t cut corners when He bought my redemption.  Oh, He dreaded the cross loaded with the sin-debt that I owed, but nevertheless, Jesus went the full way for my redemption!  Praise the Lord for His sacrifice and for His love for me … and for you!
