II Corinthians 3:17

II Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Some people think that Christianity is a list of rules. There is one list of things you must do and another list of things that you must not do. But our verse says something different. It says that when you are a follower of Jesus Christ, there is freedom and liberty. When you follow Jesus Christ you want to please Him and you want to be more like Him every day. The things that Jesus likes, his followers like. And the things that Jesus doesn’t like, His followers don’t like. As followers of Jesus Christ, you want love others and you want to hate evil. That means that there are things that you will work on developing in your life – things that you will begin to try to do. And there are other things in your life that you will try to stop doing – things that are bad and need to drop out of your life. But these things are up to you and your Lord. I can’t give you a list of what you should do and what you shouldn’t do. Both of those lists are up to you and your Lord to work on with the help of the blessed Holy Spirit. Do you want to obey the Holy Spirit? I hope so! Do you want to be more like Jesus Christ? I hope so! Pray to God and ask Him for things in your like that you need to change. Ask God what you should be doing and what you should not be doing. Ask God how you can help other Christians and how you can influence non-Christians for good. Remember, you are free in Christ – you are free to become more like Jesus Christ, your Lord and Master. Remember, you have the liberty in Christ to become the Christian that you want to be!
