Leviticus 18:1-4

Leviticus 18:1-4 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, … I am the LORD your God. After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances. Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the LORD your God. God expected Hid people, the Children of Israel, to be special. He didn’t want them to learn bad habits from the Egyptians where they had lived for 430 years. And God didn’t want them to learn bad habits from the Canaanites who lived in the land Promised to Abraham. God said for His people to follow Him, not follow bad examples. And that is a great reminder for us. It’s exciting to hang around with trouble-makers. But then you get into trouble too. It’s boring to hang around Sunday school kids. But they don’t get you into trouble. Not usually. The problem is, that sometimes trouble-makers are in Sunday school too. So beware! Look out for trouble-makers wherever they are. Always remember that God wants us to hang around with the right kind of friends. God didn’t want His people hanging around with the Egyptians or the Canaanites and God doesn’t want you hanging around with bad kids either. Obey God, and you’ll be glad that you did!
