Leviticus 27:32,34

Leviticus 27:32,34 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD. These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai. God expected the Children of Israel to give one tenth back to Him. This is called the tithe. There were other offerings that were expected, but the tithe was the basic offering. The Israelites were to drive their sheep or cattle out of the pen and as each animal passed under the rod over the gate, every tenth animal was to be set aside for the tithe. The farmer could redeem the animal by buying it back from the priest but he had to add a fifth more to the price. God would not be cheated. So what about us as New Testament believers? Should we tithe as in the Old Testament? Well, the tithe is a good amount to give, but we should give more than 10%. Actually, God owns it all. We should treat everything that we have as belonging to God.
