I Kings 13:1 And,
behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD unto
Bethel: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense. Jeroboam set up
his false religion with an altar in Bethel. God sent one of his prophets to
warn Jeroboam. The prophet found Jeroboam offering a sacrifice at his
counterfeit altar. The prophet delivered God’s warning to Jeroboam - but
Jeroboam was angry. He reached out his hand to grab the prophet of God, but God
immediately caused his hand to wither. The mighty Jeroboam drew back a useless,
crippled hand! Next he tried to bribe the old prophet, but he couldn’t. God’s
man would have nothing to do with the wicked king. He wouldn’t go home with
him, but went back to Judah another way. God will not let evil go unpunished.
Don’t forget: God sees everything and God keeps an account of everything, both
good and evil!
