I Kings 16:29 And
in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah began Ahab the son of Omri
to reign over Israel: … And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the
LORD above all that were before him. This begins the history of one of the
worst kings that ever reigned in the northern kingdom of Israel. He was not
only wicked himself, but he got all of Israel to follow after his wickedness.
Ahab married Jezebel, one of the worst women to ever live. She brought her worship
of idols with her, and convinced Ahab to set up idols to Baal, the god of the
Zidonians. She was bossy and Ahab was a wimp and whiner. They went well
together - or went bad together is more like it! What evil Ahab didn’t think
of, Jezebel did think of. I have only known of one girl named Jezebel, and she
was a dog. Really, a dog! Many parents name their children after great women in
the Bible, but not Jezebel! Jezebel did not have a very good reputation. What a
shame.
